Self Drive by road
Taupo is 278 km or 173 miles from Auckland City ( approx 4 hours drive )
Wellington is 380 km or 236 miles from Taupo ( approx 5 hours drive )
Roads are excellent between these cities.

Air services
Taupo is the domestic hub for the area.
Taupo Airport is approximately 10 minutes drive from the town centre.
There is a taxi and shuttle service available.

Access to Tongariro National Park
There are roads surrounding the park linking the main areas and the skifields.
The main trunk railway line runs through the townships of the National Park and regular buses run from Ohakune and Turangi.
